Today is my birthday! I have been on this earth twenty-something years and I hope to have many more birthdays. I have a lot of things I really want to do in my lifetime and I hope to have the opportunity.
I want to finish my master’s degree in counseling and become a Professional Licensed Counselor. I want to encourage as many people as I can to make better decisions and make their lives meaningful. I want to live long enough to be able to walk again someday, or at least get some feeling back in my hands and body – when the scientists get it all figured out. I want to be able to have children of my own. I want to have many happy times with my wife, my friends and my family.
Tomorrow is a gift, not a guarantee. We mark the passing of time by remembering anniversaries of events in our lives – some happy and others not so happy. It has been over five years that I’ve lived with physical challenges of a paralyzed person. I have many limitations of what I actually can and will be able to accomplish in this lifetime. However, I am reminded of what is really important in this quote from Theodore Roosevelt:
“What a man does for himself dies with him, but what he does for others lives on forever.”
I want my life to make a difference. How about you?
God Bless! Chris
